Stay & Play


At Happy Hands ‘Stay & Play’ we act as a natural stepping stone to Happy Hands Pre-School. We welcome all children, with their parents, grandparents, family members or carers until they are ready to move up to Playgroup at 2 and a half years.


Happy Hands ‘Stay & Play’ operates on Wednesday mornings, in term-time, between 9.30am and 11.00am, with the exception of Bank Holidays and Playgroup Inset Days. The sessions are planned and led by qualified staff from Happy Hands Pre-School, which helps to promote familiarity for the children and continuity for the parents.


At Happy Hands ‘Stay & Play’ we aim to provide your child with a range of fun activities in a stimulating, friendly and educational atmosphere. Children have the opportunity to enjoy physical play, role-play, craft activities, interactive stories and songs, together with the chance to enhance and widen their social circles!


Our sessions have been designed to stimulate and enhance your child's:


  1. Bullet  Gross Motor Skills - with rockers, push-along-toys, ride-on toys, prams, trampoline and climbing frame

  2. Bullet  Fine Motor Skills - with playdough, age-appropriate jigsaws, construction toys, drawing, colouring, mark-making equipment, and craft activities

  3. Bullet  Speech and Language Development - with book corner, story time, interactive songs and nursery rhymes

  4. Bullet  Social Interaction - with small world play, role-play, juice time, story and song time and mixing and playing with other children at their age and stage of development.


Current session fees are £2.50 per session as a drop in, or £2.00 per session if paid half-termly in advance. This fee includes a soft drink and snack for your child and a hot drink for you!


At our Stay & Play, we do ask that as parents and carers, you stay with your child and participate in the activities available throughout the session. We would also remind you that the behavior and safety of your child is your responsibility at all times.



The Staff and Committee of Happy Hands Pre-school hopes that you and your child enjoy being members of the Stay & Play and that you both find taking part in our activities interesting and stimulating. The staff and committee are always ready and willing to talk with you about your ideas, views or questions.
